Dan D
Music has always been a very important part of Dan D's life. His musical education started with playing the recorder at the age of 6. At age 12 he started to take clarinet and alto sax lessons. When he reached15, Dan broadened his horizons to include the Piano. With a primary focus in Jazz and Classical music, Dan then formed a Jazz Quartet called Jacuzzi Jazz together with friends from high school. Jacuzzi Jazz focused on playing Jazz standards, excerpts from film scores, and original compositions. In parallel to Dan's musical education, he developed a strong interest for dancing. Latin American and Ballroom Dancing occupied the rest of his free time. Dan's passion for dancing lead him to become an dance instructor after finishing high school. Dan was thrilled by Latin American and Afro-Cuban rhythms, which lead his focus to Latin Dancing.
Electronic music had it's first strong impact on Mr. D when he moved to Berlin in 2001.
Dan fell in love with the incredible sexy energy of house music while spending time at the Perlon parties in the original Panorama Bar. Once infected by this vibe Dan started collecting records and two years later had his DJ debut at the legendary Beatstreet afterhours in Berlin. After playing at several underground parties and afterhours, Dan went on to play Berlin clubs such as Watergate, Arena, Maria and the new Panorama Bar.
Club der Visionäre has also been very important to Dan's musical growth - this unique location gave him the opportunity to cut his teeth playing 10 hour marathon sets during his regular appearances since 2004.
Since 2009, Dan has also had a residency at the Diagonal parties in Nuremberg / Bavaria.
Furthermore, he appeared in Clubs like Rote Sonne (Munich) and Decadance (Gent, Belgium).
Friends like Tobi Neumann and Dinky pushed him towards music production in 2003. Dan gained additional technical ability by taking engineering classes and participating in audio workshops offered by the AES. Dan is constantly busy gaining knowledge in musical theory, learning composition, jazz harmonics, psychoacoustics and arranging. This now allows him to incorporate his classical and jazz background into the creative process that fuels his current music production for media and television. The strong impact of electronic music which has driven his continued production of funky, jazzy, and organic house tracks, has yet to leave Dan. Dan's first vinyl release on District of Corruption lead to praise from some of the best dj's in the business including Tobi Neumann, Josh Wink, Dinky, Fabrice Lig, Laurent Garnier, Minilogue, Somone Else, John Selway, Ed Davenport, Richie Hawtin, and Dj T.
